About ABC Regional
ABC Regional provides a national voice for the one third of Australians who live outside our capital cities. At a time when the regional presence of commercial media is shrinking, the ABC’s role is more important than ever. ABC Regional’s more than 400 staff prepare and present almost 1,000 hours of live local programming every week, while linking the stories, people and conversations of regional communities to local, national and international audiences through broadcast, online and mobile services.
About the Role
This is a senior reporting position based in Canberra, initiating and sourcing regional and specialist rural stories and related long-form content for digital and broadcast platforms.
You will be responsible for creating compelling rural broadcast (audio and video), social media and online content to engage state and national audiences across platforms.
You will also be required to encourage audience engagement and use digital media to gather news and extend audience reach.
The role involves occasional travel to remote locations and requires reporting or presenting other program content.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Reporter with proven experience in broadcast and digital platforms as well as experience or knowledge of rural and regional issues including agri-politics, trade, water, rural research and development and broader regional issues.
