About the Role

ABC Regional is looking for a highly motivated multi skilled content maker as Reporter, Rural, Regional QLD.

You'll love the thrill of the chase and setting the day’s news agenda. You are creative, highly organised and able to weave a good yarn for radio, digital, social media and potentially television. You'll love coming to work and connecting with our audience in Townsville.

Reporting to the Chief of Staff and with editorial responsibility to the state Rural Executive Producer you will be responsible for;

  • Producing and presenting daily radio and digital content for ABC platforms and programs, including ABC Rural Online, the Rural Report and Country Hour
  • Production of regular feature material
  • Contributing to the operational and administrative activities of ABC Regional QLD

About You

We are looking for an experienced and dynamic Rural Reporter with experience across the creation of content for radio and online.

You will be able to demonstrate that you;

  • An accomplished reporter and presenter
  • Experienced in creating content for radio and digital platforms
  • Experienced in Rural and Resources Journalism and with an in-depth understanding of rural, resources and regional issues
  • Knowledgeable about local, national and international rural issues
  • Able to travel to remote locations when required
